Over the past week Switch electrical have successfully installed a TT earthing system. The projects was carried out over a single day with the goal of installing a conducting element by burying an earth rod directly in the ground, facilitating the flow of fault currents towards the ground.
The purpose of the install is to provide the premises with an additional earth. As the premises has solar panels providing energy as well as drawing energy from the grid. Meaning if the grid goes down and the existing earthing system becomes disconnected the premises can potentially still be live via the solar power, meaning the install would not have an earth, potentially causing a fatal shock. But with the success of this installation any fault current will by directed straight into the ground.
